Sharon's life, and the memories shared by those who knew her.
Her Life
Sharon Anne Boeke, née Olthoff, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026, in New Jersey, at the age of 82.
Born on June 24, 1944, Sharon grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. In her youth, she showed great promise as a journalist, with a curious mind, a sharp wit, and a natural gift for words. After marrying her beloved husband, Richard, their life and work carried the family from Illinois to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, then to Fullerton, California. After Richard's retirement, they returned to Pennsylvania, living in Wexford and later Bethlehem, before Sharon eventually settled in New Jersey.
Sharon raised four children: Christa, Erica, David, and Joseph. She took deep pride in her family, which eventually included ten grandchildren and a growing list of great-grandchildren. She loved large family gatherings and was happiest when surrounded by the people and pets she loved. Her cooking and baking were a source of pride, generosity, and comfort, and her table was often a place where family memories were made.
Equal parts funny, stubborn, curious, and sassy, Sharon had a spirit that was entirely her own. She brought humor, intelligence, and personality into the lives of those around her. After her children were grown, she built a boutique custom greeting card business, continuing to express her creativity and care for others in a way that was uniquely Sharon.
Sharon was predeceased by her sister, Pamela; her stepson, Ricky; and her beloved husband, Richard Fredrick Boeke, who passed away in 2020. She is survived by her children, Christa, Erica, David, and Joseph; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and the many extended family members and friends whose lives she touched.
If you knew Sharon, her family would be grateful for you to share your favorite memories of her in the memory book below. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sharon's name to your local animal shelter.
